Crossroads Christian Academy (CCA)

  • Founded in 1997 as a ministry of Crossroads Bible Church
  • K4 through 12th Grade US College/University Preparatory School
  • Located just outside of Panama City, Panama
  • Fully accredited by the Middle States Association (MSA) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)
  • Fully authorized by the Ministry of Education in Panama (MEDUCA)
  • Members of Tri-Association and AASSA
  • US academic calendar  (August through June)
  • Dual Diploma – United States and the Local Panamanian certificate
     

Panama

  • Rugged, mountainous, tropical isthmus linking North and South America
  • Population of about 4.3 million
  • Spanish is the primary language
  • Cost of living varies, but is similar to the United States
  • Home to the Panama Canal – approximately 50 miles long allowing 14,000 ships to pass annually
  • Known for white and black sandy beaches, the rainforest, and various types of wildlife and birds
  • Attracts travelers from around the world to fish, dive, surf, hike, and explorer
     

Teaching

  • Class sizes range from 13-20 students
  • All classes taught in English except for foreign languages
  • Typical US curriculum – mix of secular and Christian publishers
  • Scope and sequence similar to that found in a private US school or other international American schools
  • Classroom equipment available - projectors, elmos, mimios, Ipads and mini-laptops
  • Laptop for each teacher
  • Strong emphasis on biblical integration in all areas
  • Grading, student information, lesson plans, and all communication through RenWeb and Curriculum Trak
     

Employment and Benefits

  • Appropriate degrees and certification required
  • Two years of experience preferred
  • Local health coverage for each full time teacher (subject to approval by the insurance company)
  • For foreign hires, support raising (through RCE International) is suggested, but not required. All donations are tax deductible.
  • Other foreign-hire benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
     

CCA Students and Extracurricular Programs

  • Enrollment of around 190 students
  • Approximately half Panamanian students and half from other countries
  • After-school club program for elementary (options change per quarter)
  • Athletic program – basketball, soccer, and volleyball
  • 93% of CCA graduates go on to four year post-secondary institutions in the U.S. and/or Panama
